This course provides therapists with essential knowledge and strategies to optimize wound care outcomes for clients with various types of dementia. The course covers the unique characteristics of Alzheimer's Disease, Lewy Body Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia, and Vascular Dementia, emphasizing how these conditions impact skin integrity, pain perception, mobility, and adherence to wound care protocols. Participants will learn to identify barriers to effective wound prevention and treatment, apply person-centered strategies to manage behaviors affecting wound care, and implement evidence-based interventions that enhance healing, reduce adverse outcomes, and improve the overall quality of life for individuals with dementia.
