Ageism or age discrimination significantly affects the mindset of our society. Unfortunately this includes the unfair premises of many healthcare practitioners. According to a study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, one out of five older adults experiences ageism in health care settings and those who frequently experience it have a higher risk of developing a new disability or worsening existing ones.
